Aperture photo album: Melbourne Engagement Photography

Last year I shot a heartfelt and joyous engagement celebration for David and Mylene. As part of the photography I also provided the client with a number of albums. I really love how they came out. It is a great way to share your memories. They also make wonderful gifts for the grandparents, who aren't going to look at the digital photos or learn how to use Facebook.

For this book I used Apples Apertures' book feature. It is really great to be able to do this in the program I also use to organise my library. Furthermore you can send a PDF to the client to review prior to printing.

Tip: When you change the size of the book, you or the client want to produce, in Aperture it does not retain the layout. This is not the end of the world, just a little frustrating. So print to PDF every now and again so that you can use it as a reference if something goes wrong.

Travel Photos of San Francisco: quick 4 day trip.

Here are a couple of photos from a short trip to San Fran in Jun 2010. There is so much I love about this city and this used to be a longer blog post. That is until I accedentally deleted it.

Regardless, I hope you enjoy the photos.

Tip: If you are only in SF for a couple of days ensure that you purchase your Alcatraz ticket in advance.

Cincinnati Ohio and Newport Kentucky

It was great to spend a couple of days in Cincinnati visiting some suppliers.

Fortunately I got some time one late afternoon to walk around downtown with my camera and take some photos. Starting with a beer at the Hofbräuhaus of course.

When I asked about places I should visit whilst in town the advice was unanimous - Newport on the Levee

Newport is on the Kentucky side of the Ohio River near its confluence with the Licking River. This spot formally know for it’s more unsavoury establishments has been transformed into a really pleasant spot to chill out, listen to some live music and view the Cincinnati skyline at sunset.

BTW: If you have an extra day you should also try the Ribs at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse

Great article about the criminality that used to exist in Newport and Covington.

New York Food Tour: Greenwich Village and SoHo

In my opinion one of the best ways to engage with a culture is through it's food. Therefore when a friend of mine, Lin Keech, suggested that I go on the Food of New York Tour I was on it!

The tour has something for everybody.

A bit of culture: Cafe Wha and the site where the Beat Movement started.

Plenty of opportunities to take photos: think Washington Square Park. Also known for I am legend (the movie)

And of course great food: Pasta, handmade Mozzarella, bread, meat, tarts etc etc.
